Having a bad day?

Ever beeped your car horn at the guy stalling their car in front of you?

Got frustrated with the slow person in the queue at the cafe, when you're in a rush?

Lost your patience with that colleague who is always running late?

It's important to remember that everyone has their own struggles and challenges going on that we may not be aware of. In this busy world, it's really easy to forget this.

What can we do about this to help us understand what could be going on with others and avoid these frustrations?

1. Practice empathy: Imagine what it would be like to be in someone else's shoes and how you would feel if you were going through something difficult. This can help you remember that others may be dealing with their own issues.

2. Ask questions: When you interact with others, ask how they're doing and if there's been anything new in their lives. This can help you learn more about what may be going on with them.

3. Listen actively: When someone shares something with you, be sure to listen actively and be present in the moment. This can help you pick up on cues and understand what they may be going through.

4. Be patient and understanding: Sometimes people may act differently or seem distant because of what they're going through. Try to be patient and understanding, and avoid taking things too personally.

5. Be supportive: If someone does share with you that they are going through something, offer your support and let them know you're there for them. It can mean a lot to someone to know that they have someone to turn to if they need it.

Remember that while you don't need to know every detail about what someone is going through, being mindful of the fact that people have their own challenges can help you be more compassionate and empathetic towards others.
