I've lost count of how many times I've recommended this book to family and friends. It was a real game changer for me and the reason I got out of a rut I was in at the time. We'd come out of 'covid times' but it seemed a new, higher level of output had become the norm where I worked. I'd started working 6 or 7 days a week to stay on top of things and it had already started to take its toll on me and my family. I was getting up early on Sunday mornings to get ahead of the work required of me on in the following week, so that I had time to take my kids swimming and do the normal family stuff. I'm not afraid of hard work but it was just getting tougher, with no sign of letting up. Things came to a crunch when I was told that my employer wasn't going to replace another colleague that had recently left. I was informed that I'd need to upskill my team to cover the leaver's duties. Not good, and it made me feel really low. Around about the same time, a friend had recommended I read Ant Middleton's, The Fear Bubble. After the first few pages I was hooked. I even bought the audio book so I could listen to it on my commute. It was just what I needed and gave me the confidence (as well as the kick up the backside) to hand my notice in and find another job. I was gone in a month.
The Fear Bubble is a self-improvement book that aims to help readers overcome fear and anxiety to achieve their goals. The author, Ant, a former British special forces soldier and survivalist, shares his experiences and techniques for managing fear in high-pressure situations. The book explores how fear can hold people back from achieving their objectives, and provides practical advice for managing fear and developing mental resilience. The Fear Bubble covers a range of topics, including fear of failure, fear of success, and fear of judgement from others. This book is full of practical advice and inspiring messages. Please, give it a read if you're struggling with fear, anxiety or wish to build your mental resilience (or you just need that kick). I have to say that it contains essential pointers for anyone who wants to push themselves further, harness their fears and conquer their own personal mountains.
